From what I have been led to understand, we will know the final count in the Chris Trumbauer-Chuck Ferrar race for County Council District Six sometime this morning.  Trumbauer is ahead by 50 votes and while it is possible that Ferrar will narrow the margin, he is unlikely to prevail. Will there be a recount?

Whoever wins will go up against Republican Doug Burkhardt who is having a fundraiser on October 7 at the Sly Fox Pub, 7 Church Circle (Outside Terrace) 6:00 to 8:00 pm with former mayoral candidate and proprietor Chris Fox and other community leaders and supporters. Burkhardt is also having a FALL CELEBRATION COOKOUT/Benefit on Tuesday, October 12, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The Home of Lori and Chad Lane, 118 Magothy Bridge Road, Severna Park. Suggested donation of $100 per person/$150 per couple, Sponsorship (includes 2 tickets) Platinum $1,000 / Gold $750 / Silver $500 Please RSVP to Lori at 410-760-7368 ext.117 or email lori@VoteDougBurkhardt.com

Natasha Pettigrew, the Maryland Green Party's 2010 nominee for United States Senate was fatally injured when her bicycle was struck on Sunday, September 19 by an SUV! Pettigrew was on leave from her studies at the University of Miami to run for the seat currently held by Senator Barbara Mikulski. “Natasha was a bright, hardworking young woman who had talked to many Maryland voters as a candidate and meant much to many Marylanders as a person. She had incredible potential as a future leader for this party and this state” said an official release from the party and will post mpre on its website – www.mdgreens.org . The party's Coordinating Council will make a decision regarding a possible replacement by early next week.
(By the way, a tv news report last night showed a photo of the big, black SUV with the bike underneath it. The driver drove home that way and told police she thought she had run over an animal. Uh huh. It just happened to be a 30 year old woman. Does this not tell us something about big, black SUV's and those who drive them? Or whatever color they are?)
