Ward 8 Residents
Just as a reminder, I hold first “Saturday Meetings” each month. This month’s meeting will be on 3 May at 11 AM at Ahh Coffee. Public Safety and the budget are on my mind, but these are your meetings, so we’ll discuss whatever suits you.
The regular Public Hearing of the Annapolis City Council will be held on April 28, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Below is the agenda for the meeting with the sponsor and brief description. As is evident, the focus of the hearing is on the Fiscal 2009 Budget. All Council meetings are broadcast on Comcast channel 99 Verizon channel 34.
Note that, in addition to the public hearing, a legislative session has been added to the agenda.
PUBLIC HEARING
O-04-08 Variances for Subdivisions [Arnett] – For the purpose of moving the authority for granting subdivision variances from the Planning Commission to the Board of Appeals to comply with the Annotated Code of Maryland and a recent court decision: and all matters relating to the subdivision variances.

R-13-08 Capital Improvement Budget and Program: FY 2009 to FY 2014 [Moyer] – For the purpose of adopting a capital improvement budget for the Fiscal Year 2009, and a capital improvement program for the six-year period from July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2014; and all matters relating to said budget and program.
R-16-08 FY 2009 Fees Schedule Effective July 1, 2008 [Moyer] – For the purpose of affirming without change other fees that will be charged for the use of City services for FY 2009; and matters generally relating to said fees.

LEGISLATION
O-52-07 2nd R. Historical Markers Commission [Israel] – For the purpose of establishing an Historical Markers Commission to identify buildings and sites within the boundaries of the city which have architectural or historical significance, to approve designs for historical markers, to approve the accuracy of the description on the marker, to consider the feasibility of adding an audio component to an approved historical marker, and to submit an annual report to the City Council. I believe that the Mayor and Mr. Israel are still sorting out issues on this legislation, but I have no problems with it. It seems appropriate for a historic City to have such markers.

eh... as far as O-52-07 is concerned, I hope they don't install audio devices all around town. Aside from eventually becoming annoying, they'll just end up destroyed or vandalized.
