EASTPORT CIVIC ASSOCIATION NEWS

Back Pack Night Worthy Cause Campaign
Wednesday, August 20

The Eastport Civic Association has been collaborating with area churches to conduct a Family Night program for the children of the Eastport Terrace and Harbor House housing communities. The churches involved include First Christian Community Church, Eastport United Methodist Church, and Calvary United Methodist Church.

Family Night activities have included board games, refreshments, and movie nights as well as academic and vocational skills development activities.

Through these activities, the collaborators have identified 40 children who will not have adequate school supplies to start the school year. In response, we are conducting a special event called Back Pack Night on August 20th.

During this special event, the identified children (1st grade and above,) will be presented with new back packs, and a selection of school supplies at a pool party held at the Harbor House pool on Madison Street.

ECA is very proud to be a part of Back Pack Night and invites all members and friends to provide financial support for this worthy cause. You can send your contributions to:

Eastport Civic Association
P.O. Box 3539
Annapolis, MD 21403

If you would like to volunteer to participate in future Family Nights, please contact Jane Lawrence at secretary@eastportcivic.org. In addition to general volunteers to play board games with children and serve refreshments, we need people to do things like help with homework, or provide a short talk on their chosen profession. We look forward to hearing from you!
