There are those who would cynically say that these plans have little meaning or import, that they will be shelved or ignored, that once elected officials get a hold of them it's anybody's guess as to what will get funding or support, etc., etc. CP could not possibly comment on such assumptions...could I? Of course, if one were to do some "backcasting" and take a look at previous such plans and then see what happened and what did not happen, one could develop a framework to make such an argument, but who is going to do that? (Oh yeah--that would be like the National Enquirer pulling up their old predictions to see which ones came true...)
On the other hand, it would be hard to believe that the environmental, transportation, over-development mess we are in was actually planned. Just take a look at the Aris T Allen Boulevard intersection/turnoff with Riva Road or the Hilltop Lane/Forest Drive or the Forest Drive/Chinquapin Rd. intersection...or...well, you get the point...
Find it here: annapolis comp plan. Your comments about the draft will be taken by city officials....and CP if you'd like.
