What happened to the fireworks? If they were canceled due to wind, it would have been nice of the organizers to post a notice on their website. I was listening to WRNR for some sort of announcement and they also said nothing.
I did get to see the sailboat drop along with a few dozen others at city dock. It was pretty pathetic. At about 4 minutes to midnight, they hoisted a sailboat-shaped wire frame with a strand of christmas lights up the flagpole at city dock. Attached to the sailboat was a big, orange extension cord that was flapping in the wind. Just after midnight, they started lowering the boat. There was no countdown. When it got near the bottom, someone grabbed it and started untying it. They didn't even bother to unplug it to signal the new year.
I don't know. I was home sick so I watched Tropic Thunder. What a hoot. Hollywood takes itself so seriously and when it makes fun of itself, it can only be through extreme irony.
