Arundel Muckraker Predicts "Acting" City Attorney to Get Confirmed

See it at City Attorney. Will the City Council just go along with Ellen "O" and confirm Stephen Kling? Alderman Finlayson is quoted as saying "I don’t think I’m qualified to evaluate an attorney". Hello Alderman Finlayson! We the people give you the power to confirm the city attorney, so you better darn well be qualified to evaluate that person. If you are not qualified to evaluate him, then abstain! And by the way, we also give you the power to make laws, so why are you not qualified to evaluate a lawyer? There are two attorneys and one legal investigator on city council. How will they vote?

According to Muckraker,"Alderman Sam Shropshire, a candidate for mayor, said decertification happens to many attorneys, and isn’t cause for alarm. Most simply forget to file the necessary paperwork, he said." What? Forgetting to file the one required piece of paperwork for an officer of the court and a member of the bar to be legal isn't cause for alarm? What else do lawyers do but handle lots of paper? Well, that's from a man who was late in filing his required election finance reporting.

Here is the opinion from the Maryland Attorney General's Office on the Kling matter when it was learned that he had been de-certified: kling opinion Let us not let the State off the hook. It did send letters and letters to Kling, but to no avail. It could have done something at that point.

Kling will lose his unbridled (pun intended for those of you in the horsey set, and you know who you are) support when we lose the Moyer Administration.
