I am hearing static about some real underlying and potentially disastrous, perhaps catastrophic problems in our budget--as in big--very big deficits. At this point, I am trying to gather more information but I caution readers and activists to play close attention. There quite possibly could be a "perfect storm" to hit us within a year or so including an election, a possible referendum on a city manager, and let us hope that our aging, crumbling sewer and water infrastructure (repeatedly referred to here and brought up by some lawmakers as well) does not "pop a vein" in the midst of this. I for one like having clean water pumped in and dirty water flow away from my home.

I predict it is going to get very ugly.
In a lot of ways, Annapolis is like Florida. A sizable chunk of its economy is built on tourism (at least compared to many similar sized cities). Tourists dry up during recessions. However are we going to replace that revenue stream without raising taxes to an uncomfortable level?
It is a horrible time to have so many empty storefronts and office suites.
A perfect storm, indeed.
Jesse Thanks for your note. Time to hunker down!
