Oddly enough, I can't decide which of those issues should get the most attention.

I can think of a few that should get no attention though by the next mayor and should (in fact, BETTER) be settled by the current administration.

Ellis You are correct. You can only choose one. Such are the limitations of some polls. And of course I'm the one who chose the issues, so yeah, it's flawed, but please send a comment with your ideas or thoughts...

OK. My thoughts...
1. Market House -- I wonder if either dueling parties even remember what they're arguing about at this point...

2. Water and Sewer Infrastructure -- I know little of this issue other than what people say at the "monday morning water cooler convo". Word is that the current system is close to or beyond its capacity of service. Speaking of water coolers, I can't stand the taste of my water from the sink tap and tend to drink bottle water when the Brita filter has failed. Drinking from the tap is like drinking pool water. It stings the back of the throat like chlorine. And when I fill my tub, it has a blueish tint to it. Of all the places I've lived, Annapolis is the only city whos water has a color.

3. Transportation and Parking -- Although I HIGHLY doubt it'll happen, I'd like to see the downtown harbor parking lot (between the public rest rooms and the Harbor Queen) converted into a walking park. LOTS of trees and bushes and maybe even a few mobile ice cream stands so people don't have to stand inside in LOOOOONG lines at the few ice cream shops we have downtown. I would love to see new buses that are CNG or Hybrid or 100% electric... with A/C that works (proof that I read your blogs, Paul =P). I'd like to see all cabs converted to Hybrids too like NYC did a few years ago. Give em a tax break for the purchase!

4. Finance and Budget -- no comment. Well... other than stop spending money on useless projects to croonies, I have no comment.

5. Public Housing -- I'd like to see it continue to be privatized so gov't red tape and budget constraints stops getting in the way of NEEDED maintenance. Some of my friends living in public housing live in some deplorable conditions. Moldy drywall. NO carpets. cracked windows. Crime. They work hard for what little they have and deserve better.

6. Trees, Parks, Waterfront -- we've got plenty of that! And in my opinion the parks we have are under-used by the public and I see no need to continue acquiring more.

7. Acountability and Transparency -- haha! yeah right.

8. Public Schools -- Fire everyone at the Board of Education and restructure the entire system. Get rid of useless positions. TRIM THE FAT. This is more of a County issue and I don't wanna rant.

9. Jobs and Businesses Closing -- Although painful to watch, this is the private sector. It will recover on it's own.

10. Controlling Development -- eh, no opinion other than if the development means more parking garages, I'm against it. However, if the parking garages are located underground (as in under the building structure) then I might be for it.

11. Expanding Sister Cities -- this is one of the silliest things I've ever seen and I don't really care what's going on in other cities. Annapolis has very unique challenges and I doubt there's too many cities similar to ours. And why do we call it sister cities? Why not brother cities? Or cousin cities? Did Annapolis and Paris come from the same mother? Do they have different daddys? Inquiring minds wanna know.

12. Poverty/Inequality/Human Relations -- All I can say about this is what my grandparents said to me as a kid... "Where ever you are, there you are." So if you don't like where you are on a financial level, then pick yourself up by the boot straps and do something about it. However, if you're elderly, handicapped or mentally challenged, the city, county, state and federal gov't have more than enough options available at ones disposal. I don't think we need more programs but I'll agree that we can refine the ones that exist which are not working to their fullest potential.

13. Other -- This is more of a wish list... 1. Sure would love to see the city crack down on slumlords. 2. Sure would love to see gov't employees banned from drawing two paychecks i.e. a pension AND a full time position. 3. I would like to see Annapolis work with DNR to bring Oysters to our area through some of their many programs.
