Ward Five includes Hunt Meadow and some areas around Forest Drive and between Forest Drive and Hilltop Lane and is currently represented by Dave Cordle and before that by Herb McMillan who are both Republicans. Straaten is a long time Annapolitan, former legal officer in the Navy and he owned an electrical equipment business here but is now retired. He has also worked on local political campaigns, including Ellen Moyer's first run for mayor in 2001 (Please don't hold that against him--I did too...). It might be cool to have an electrician in local government. He could keep us current---or maybe even help us remove or at least fix our shorts. But seriously folks--a career in the Navy, law and electrical supply is a great background for an alderman and I look forward to meeting Mr. Straaten and having him at Sip N' Blog as he makes the circuit, but we must ask, "Is he wired?"....Nick Berry also reports that Trudi McGowan is the new ADCC member for Ward Four.
