Thanks To Alderman Arnett and Public Works Director Agee For Attention To Road Repairs

Alderman Arnett reminded me today that I had failed to report on the response to my request over the summer to make repairs to a seriously degraded road section. That was Sixth Street at the gateway to Eastport between the bridge and the Eastport Elementary School and Rockfish Restaurant. I was remiss in not mentioning that he took the issue up immediately with Acting DPW Director Bob Agee who had a crew out within a day or so to make emergency repairs. The road had huge gaps between slabs and iron or steel portions of joints had been exposed. The worst parts of the road were quickly repaired, making it much safer. While of course, CP is pleased to report on the quick attention this received from both Arnett and Agee, I still find it hard to understand how such a highly visible and heavily-used section of road could have become so worn out but it was a citizen that had to bring it to the attention of city officials (See here: road repair).
