Citizens are invited on Wednesday to “toast to clear water from clearwells” in Annapolis. You will be able to drink some of the fresh water flowing out of the Water Treatment Plant during the dedication of the two new, enclosed clearwell tanks and take a brief guided tour of the facility. On site, you will see an unusually long remnant of the earliest type of water line, predating the Civil War. It is a 20-foot section of Bell and Spigot made of wooden sections grooved together with a Steel band.
Grooved together with a steel band?? I did that for a few weeks in the Caribbean one winter, but that's another story.
Come to the Annapolis Water Treatment Plant at 260 Defense Highway, Wednesday, October 28th. 1:00 p.m. walk through 1:30 p.m. ribbon cutting. Contact Rhonda Wardlaw at RWardlaw@annapolis.gov for information.
