Living Shoreline Seminar...No More Bulkheading!!!

Unity Gardens is pleased to sponsor a seminar for property owners, homeowners’ association representatives and everyone interested in the health of the Chesapeake Bay and our local rivers and streams.

This program will address the planning and implementation of wildlife-friendly shoreline management practices which can serve as alternatives to bulkheads and other hardened shoreline features.

A guided tour of the nearby London Towne shoreline restoration will follow immediately after the presentations.

Functions and Benefits of Living Shorelines:
Increase Habitat for crabs, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and others;
Reduce erosion—roots of grasses, shrubs and trees  stabilize shorelines
Minimize pollution—vegetative buffers filter stormwater runoff and
absorb nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous.
Increase Property Values—Wildlife and natural beauty can increase
attractiveness to homebuyers.
