County League of Conservation Voters Set to Endorse....The newly-formed Anne Arundel Chapter of the MD League of Conservation Voters is on the move, but hold on a second....there is still time to file! Some actively campaigning candidates are not even listed...If candidates are not in a hurry to register their candidacies, what's the hurry with endorsements? Speaker of the House Mike Busch of District 30 has already received early endorsements from two of the state’s most active environmental groups, the Maryland Chapter of the Sierra Club and the Maryland League of Conservation Voters. Chespeake Bay Foundation President Will Baker was seen at the recent campaign kickoff for Busch and fellow D30 Dem Incumbents Delegate Virginia Clagett and Senator John Astle. Here's one endorsement I can predict--the AA LCV will go for Democrat Chris Trumbauer over Incumbent Democrat Chuck Ferrar. Hey, it's just a prediction but Trumbauer, a close ally of Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen, is the West and Rhode River Keeper. His board chair, Bob Gallagher is on the AA-LCV board. I also suspect that in District 30, they will go for Busch and Clagett (those are no-brainers as far as predictions) and Astle and challenger Judd Legum for delegate...all of which means they will likely snub incumbent Republican Ron George, even though he has championed many environmental causes and has been labeled as a "Green Elephant."
These endorsements will be made on Saturday, June 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the Green Festival at the County Fairgrounds Pavillion Stage. The Chesapeake Green Festival features fun and education for the whole family with many exhibits, talks, demos and more. The Anne Arundel Chapter is also sponsoring a booth at the festival.
The AA County Chapter Steering Committee members are Democrats, Republicans and Independents from different areas of the county who joined together because we share a committment to conservation and protecting the quality of life in Anne Arundel County.
