The June 13 West Annapolis 2nd Sunday Neighborhood Green Market is expected to be the largest in the Market’s one year history, with more than 30 vendors and a particular emphasis on greener living and community groups.
True to its vision of promoting “local” and “green”, the Market also brings attention to community organizations by featuring them at each Market. This Sunday’s Market will highlight Grow Annapolis, an urban agricultural group committed to fostering and sustaining the development of community gardens in Annapolis and surrounding communities, www.growannapolis.org, and Local Food Beat, a resource for sustainable eating and local foods, www.localfoodbeat.com.
In addition to the Market’s regular vendors offering the traditional farmer’s market produce, plants, flowers, locally produced foods, and craftspeople using upcycled and recycled materials to create jewelry, furniture, art, clocks and lamps and cake stands, the June Market will introduce several new “Green” vendors. Viridian Energy, Green Irene Eco Consultants, Kaylala Organic Apothecary, Renewal by Andersen, and Eco Baby Bum – Annapolis’ new cloth diaper store – will offer shoppers tips for greener living.
Free face painting by Crystalooneys, seated massage by Lotus Therapeutic Massage, and watering stations for the family pooch round out the selection, making the West Annapolis 2nd Sunday Neighborhood Green Market a “must go” family destination. The addition of a Sidewalk Sale in the West Annapolis business district promises to make it a full day.
The Market, which runs April through November on the second Sunday of the month, takes place on Giddings Avenue between Ridgely Avenue and Annapolis Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Set in the heart of the West Annapolis business district, the location offers customers an opportunity to “shop local” in the collection of locally-owned retail shops, antiques and art galleries, salons, spas and service businesses (www.westannapolisbusiness.org ).
