2010 Elections Again....On Again, Off Again, On Again....Scott Bowling, an Annapolis Democrat who switched his party allegiance to Republican and ran against incumbent Alderwoman Classie Hoyle last fall has now filed for County Council District 6, which means he will face either incumbent Democrat Chuck Ferrar or his challenger, Chris Trumbauer in the November general. Of course this means he is unopposed in the primary and perhaps sensing he can capitalize on a perceived anti-incumbency fervor and rising Republican tide, he decided this would be a more opportune choice than a crowded race for delegate. Bowling, a mortgage banker and openly-Gay candidate, had been toying with the idea of running for Judge of the Orphan's Court, then told ACP that he was going to run for delegate, then backed out of that citing career and personal reasons and then quietly filed for County Council on July 1.
Republican Patrick Jameson will face incumbent Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman in November.
Jameson served in the Maryland State Police for over a decade, as a detective trooper in the Maryland Office of the Attorney General, as a member of the prestigious MSP Special Operations Division (SWAT) team, and with the National Troopers Coalition. More recently, he was the national director of homeland security for Reston-based Oracle Corporation. For the past 20 years, Jameson has been active in federal, state and local law enforcement, as well as with homeland security issues.
“I feel the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s department is capable of being a premiere law enforcement organization,” said Jameson. “But I am very concerned about the way many important issues are currently being addressed.” He went on to cite instances where undercover sting operations were made public in what he felt was used for personal and political recognition, the fact that there remain 10,000 un-served warrants and that the current sheriff failed to testify on the most comprehensive piece of gang-related criminal justice legislation to come out of the state legislature.
Jameson also has plans for utilizing the latest technology to find and eliminate inefficiencies in the department aimed at making the sheriff’s office better equipped to carry out its responsibilities and save taxpayers money.
Mr. Jameson resides in Riva. He completed his undergraduate degree at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and earned an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
