Tonight is the “27th Annual National Night Out”, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. From 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. residents throughout Annapolis are being asked to lock their doors, turn on their outdoor lights and spend the evening outside with your neighbors.
National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, neighborhoods celebrate National Night Out with a variety of neighborhood events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from law enforcement personnel and youth events.
Thanks to Police Chief Pristoop and the Annapolis Police Department. Come on down to City Dock tonight and GET ON THE TOWN.
