How Maryland Can Become A Leader in K-12 Online Learning
October 6, 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.The Maryland Inn, 16 Church Circle, Annapolis
Technological innovations are rapidly improving and transforming the learning opportunities available to American students. Children who participate in so-called virtual education perform better, on average, than students taking the same coursework through traditional instruction. As a result, policymakers have a responsibility to examine whether current policies will facilitate a positive transformation that harnesses the power of online learning.
The Maryland Public Policy Institute's Senior Fellow Dan Lips will present his recommendations for how Maryland can improve its current standing of 24th in the nation in offering students online and virtual learning options. Online learning experts Michael Horn and Susan Patrick will also share their insights.
