A preview of this Saturday's Green Building Tour can be seen tonight on Maryland Public Television’s “Your Money & Business” at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature a segment with Eastport’s Al Graf, whose recently completed home showcases a number of green building and living innovations.
This weekend’s tour, sponsored by Historic Annapolis Foundation, features over a dozen Annapolis and Anne Arundel County residential and commercial properties that incorporate eco-friendly applications and green building materials. The tour runs from noon - 6 p.m. Tickets are available at http://www.annapolis.org or by calling 410.267.8146.
I believe these new home building and renovation concepts are important for a variety of reasons but I do question how we call certain things "green" and "environmentally conscious" when they still are based on consumption, wastefulness and excess. When is enough really enough? Take the tour, learn something but beware. The best way to be "green" is to reduce, reuse, recycle and rethink.
