Mayor Ellen continues on her romp through Europe, sowing the seeds of sister-city relationships as she merrily makes her way around. Her latest official blog post comes to us from Dumfries, Scotland, and she explains the various historical ties our two cities have in common. Her writing is clear, lucid and enjoyable.
The Mayor detailed the high level of important municipal discussions that took place with her counterparts. "We talked about challenges--affordable housing, the economy, seagulls."
What kind of seagulls would that be? Would that be the kind that swoop in, poop on everyone and then fly off? Would that be the kind that deface public buildings? Would that be the kind that follow fishing boats looking for scraps and handouts?
Once again, for consistency's sake and to continue beating the drum,. the only government that our city needs to have a sister relationship with is Anne Arundel County. Right here-next door to our fair city where we can discuss housing, the economy and yes, even seagulls with John Leopold and the County Council.
CP has an idea. Let's name our newly almost-redecorated Market House after our friends in Scotland. Yes, we can call it the House of the The Dumb Fries. Hmmm.....
