In today's Capital, Editor Tom Marquardt memorializes longtime former editor Ed Casey, Eric Hartley observes a nonchalant attitude at our police department regarding a traffic matter (something CP wrote about a while back) and Features Editor Kathryn Flynn writes a mea culpa about being engrossed, happily so it would seem, in silly, flowery Hollywood entertainment gossip. If you're anything like CP (yikes) you'll be as disgusted as I was when reading this maudlin piece. If that truly reflects the interior life of our newspaper's features editor, well, I guess it says a lot. Read on...http://www.hometownannapolis.com/cgi-bin/read/2008/07_06-16/COL

Interesting comments. I find Kathryn's columns to be entertaining which I believe is precisely what she intends. To assume this "reflects the interior life" is to - well, you know what they say about assume. Perhaps the challenge for you would be to find the positive in people and things you encounter instead of the negative. Makes for a happier interior. Write on Kathryn and Go Army!!!
Mamadukes....( Mamadukes?)
Geeze--where have you been? I write plenty of positive things--even about The Capital, which as you certainly have noticed with this piece, I give them a lot of referrals and publicity--even though they don't need it. You think they would dare do the same for CP?
So, who is being negative here? And besides, is something wrong with being negative? Can't store any power or send out a charge (or remain current) without a positive, ground and a negative!
I really did not like the silly tone of her piece in which she was mainly reveling in her own blissful infotainment ignorance. Not everything has to be highbrow or deep, but can you find anything positive or redeeming in gushing about Hollywood celebs? C'mon--it's mindless chatter. Entertainment and features are fine, but I have not had a working tv in my home for years and don't miss it one bit! As if mindless Hollywood chit chat is not bad enough, why does it have to get amplified in the media? and why do you use a fake name on the internet? Is that a positive thing?
