CP Wants to Know What You The Readers Want In The New Year!

It's the end of our second year and we're pleased with growing readership that has broken records recently. We really want to know what you the readers think about CP. We invite you to take the time with the new year upon us to write in and tell us what you like, what you don't like, and what changes you'd like to see. Please keep in mind that Capital Punishment is a public service. We do this to improve communication and involvement in our community. Our goal is to make Annapolis a better place where we as citizens can be better informed and therefore take a more meaningful role in our governance and in shaping our future.

We need your support! We welcome your input and we welcome your advertising. We do this virtually for free. We ask you to support our advertisers. Tell your friends about CP. Write posts and comments. But for now, please just take a few minutes and send in your thoughts--what you like and what you would like to see on the pages.

It's tough writing these stories and columns day after day and while it's hard enough to do it without expectation of compensation, we are gratified when readers write in. And please, rather than sending an anonymous letter, please let the world know who you are. After all, we do that here every day and because of that, suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Thanks,

Paul Foer

I'd love to see an article on Forest Drive, one of the forgotten corners of Annapolis. It pops up from time to time in the campaign promises of self-serving, dirtbag politicians who then promptly ignore it after slithering into office where they proceed to do nothing but take up space for the next few years. Traffic issues aside (and that is a huge nut to crack) take a look at the retail vacancies that exist along this corridor, and have for the past few years. And the businesses that are popping up are less than savory, to the point that they aren't even buying permanent signs for their businesses. The former furniture store is being leased to a pawn shop, which is nice. All we're missing at this point is a gun store and a check cashing business and we'll be cooking! With a few notable exceptions, Forest Drive is quickly becoming Annapolis' open sore...one that's ignored because the tourists don't see it.

Ooo...and I'd like to see you and Brian Gill patch up your tiff and do a bipartisan roundup of Mayor Moyer's last seven years in office. Brian did a brilliant timeline of the Market House situation last year that I forwarded to about fifty people. So if you're taking requests, I'd love to see a debacleathon of Moyer's Greatest Hits.

Burren It sounds as if you just wrote the piece. Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of research and interviewing. Perhaps you'd like to take it on.

That's why I'm making the request. You are not nearly as lazy as I am.

Okay, but I need to earn a living too. Do you think anybody can write coherent sentences and tell a good story?

The old furniture store is still vacant and they only leased their marquee for the CASH 4 GOLD for a period of time.

But I agree, that Forest Drive is pretty bad. While I hope that the paving is NOT done, I am kind of thinking that it may be done (lines have to come in the spring), but boy there is a good case of why low bid is not the way to go.

I would like to see this blog actually fill the role of Annapolis newspaper. In the last year, there has been extensive coverage of how much people in county government get paid. Anyone could tell you how much the asst principal of Bohunk middle schools makes. How about looking at how much people in Annapolis city govt make. Start with Mike Miron-
head of Dept of Econ Affairs makes to oversee a staff of 1. Look at why a town of 35,000 needs 18 departments, and why those dept heads get paid so much. How about looking at how much the current adm has benefited campaign finance wise to build Parole center and drain the business activity of downtown. That would be a good start.

Wow. That's a tall order. You want to see this little blog fulfill the role of American newspapers. Sure. Okay. Have you got ten million dollars for me? Five million? Okay, I'll settle for a million.

As for Mike Miron and all these other highly-paid department heads whose accomplishments are questionable, I have written about this and related topics numerous times.
Perhaps I should have asked my readers:

"Ask not what this blog can do for you. Rather ask what you can do for your blog."

All my readers send in anonymous suggestions but I could sure use some help--and a place to start would be by identifying yourselves.

You want me to do good things--and I am trying but I need help! Writers. Commenters--named please. Advertisers and supporters--please support my current advertisers. Tell your friends to read and write in. Thanks!
