I have received information including some telling photos about one mayoral candidate who was apparently involved in a domestic dispute and was thrown out of his/her home. I cannot corroborate at this time, but I believe the story to be real. I am waiting for the police beat report.
Democratic Mayoral Candidate Zina Pierre will hold an Open House on Monday, August 31 (tonight) from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at 26 South Street in what is described as the city’s first "Green" Building. Meet Zina Pierre and learn more about her vision for the city. A light dinner buffet will also be served. The building at 26 South Street formerly housed Barrett Printing and has been "repurposed" by owners Jackie and Drew Sweetak and features bio-based tile made from corn, high efficiency windows, dual flush toilets and many other green features.
CP received an email on Sunday from Wayne Taylor, which was odd, for a few reasons. One--he suddenly is announcing an event only two--or is it three days from now? Two--he is doing it at the same time as a long-scheduled mayoral forum (see below) at the same time. At least we think he is. Three, he provides no contact information other than the phone number for the restaurant. Four-why would he not want to attend the Mt. Olive event???? Here is what Taylor sent out:
September 3 Wednesday 6-9pm- Taylor 4 Mayor Fundraiser
Rockfish 400 Sixth Street Annapolis, Md. 410-267-1800 Donations for $25, 50, 100 etc.
But Wednesday is September, 2nd not September 3. So, now what??????? No corrected notice has been sent yet and his web-site has not been updated for a month....And now on to other upcoming events......
A Grand Ole Rally for Josh Cohen for Mayor, Sept 2, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, Horn Point Harbor Marina, 105 Eastern Ave., Eastport, Annapolis. Celebrate the end of summer along beautiful Back Creek with great music, free food, moon bounce and kid activities. RSVP to Lyn Farrow Collins at lynfarrow@msn.com or 443-386-8096. For more info, contact Kathy Nieberding at knieberding@comcast.net or 410-212-1051.
In case you don't choose to attend Wayne's fundraiser (which may may not be on the same day) there will be a Mayoral Candidates Forum at Mount Olive Community Life Center, Thursday, September 3, 6:00 PM, 2 Hicks Avenue, #400
