Procedures for selecting a nominee for mayor of the City of Annapolis
  1. Reading of the City Code Sec. 4.20.160A
Vacancies in the nomination may be filled by the central committee of the political party to which the nominee belongs. The person filling the vacancy shall satisfy the requirements of Section 4.20.010. In the event of any vacancy occurring because of the declination, disqualification or death of any person nominated, or because of a tie vote in the primary election, except as provided in this section, the vacancy shall be filled at least thirty days before the election. Where the vacancy results from a tie vote, the nominee selected to fill the vacancy shall be one of the candidates receiving the tie vote. [Friday, October 2: deadline for filling vacancy in nomination.]
  1. Placing by Members the names of nominees to be considered.
  2. Deliberation by Members.
  3. The vote by Members by voice.
A majority of the Members present and voting shall determine the nominee.
If no candidate receives a majority of the vote, the top two candidates will be voted on.
If there is a tie vote at any time, there will be further deliberation and another vote until a nominee is selected.
Announcement of the Nominee
After due deliberation and according to the City Code Sec. 4.20.160, the Annapolis Democratic Central Committee will place in nomination for mayor of the City of Annapolis                                    at the Supervisors of the Board of Elections on Monday, September 28, 2009.
