Oh Nine Online for Oct 6: Community Project At Easport School

Chris Fox has indeed knocked on my door--twice in fact--or so he and my son say--and that I was asleep. He has to stop coming by at nap time...but here it is in publication--Chris Fox has been stomping through Eastport....the other candidates have also knocked on CP's door...

TONIGHT   5 to 7 p.m. "Victory '09" Annapolis Democratic Central Committee Fundraiser and Unity Rally at Loews Annapolis Hotel, 126 West St, Annapolis, with light fare and iced tea, plus a cash bar.  Admission: $30 per person, $50 per couple, payable at the door.  Come out to support your Democratic candidates and elected officials and help keep Annapolis blue in the November 3 general election.  RSVP to Nick Berry at jandnberry@msn.com or 410-263-1139.

Thanks to Alderman Ross Arnett for bringing this to our attention:
Eastport Elementary School's PTA has received a grant from Unity Gardens to install a sensory garden on the school grounds. The garden will feature five raised beds - one representing each of the five senses - and will be designed and maintained with involvement from students at the school as well as members of the surrounding community. The purpose of the garden is to provide EES students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about plants and their life cycle as well as to get excited about gardening. The garden will also be accessible to the community.  Questions contact Kathleen Booth at kathslat@aol.com / c. 410 271-6394

Matching funds for the garden project have also been provided by the PTA and the Eastport Civic Association, and the MRE Moms and Dads is coordinating volunteers to carry out the work needed to construct the garden. Garden construction will take place on Saturday, October 17 from 8 am to 2 pm and help is needed in many areas including removing the existing grass, leveling and tilling the soil, constructing raised beds, hauling soil and pea gravel to garden site, etc. If you are interested and available to help, please sign up by clicking the link here. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided!!!  http://www.doodle.com/x499zmuyaxi6xfi2
