Last night's mayoral and Ward 8 candidates forum at the Annapolis Maritime Museum was an excellent opportunity. Well-attended and well-moderated and stocked with beer and wine at the end--a true Eastport event. Thanks to Vic Pasco and the Easport CIvic Ass'n and the museum. There were at least 100, maybe even 150 people and we were all up close and almost personal with Arnett and Toews as well as with Cordle, Fox and Cohen. All the candidates seemed to be more relaxed and in control than in previous such forums. My personal observation based on a casual look-around, was that most attendees were of course Eastporters--but also a sprinkling of Ward One folks. I think there were all of two Black residents in attendance despite. Now, somebody will complain about me making such an observation but I am sensitive to noticing such things. It's a fact. The even larger forum sponsored by the ECA for the primary brought out a more diverse crowd.

The Black Chamber of Commerce of Anne Arundel County, Inc. in conjunction with the NAACP, Anne Arundel County Branch will sponsor a Mayoral Forum on Monday, October 26 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 87 West Street, Annapolis, MD, from 7 to 9 PM. All three mayoral candidates will attend. There will be a paneled question and answer period immediately followed by community participation. Questions may submitted in writing or asked directly to the candidates. November 3 General Election. (CP NOTES: Yet another mayoral forum on a Monday night after the PTSA did the same thing--I gave up trying to organize a forum because it was nearly impossible to find a night that worked--once we knew who got the D's nod...and specifically avoided choosing a Monday night due to potential conflict with city and or county council meetings.....)
