The Rivers of the World Foundation (ROW) and the Alice Ferguson Foundation -- partners in the cleanup of the Potomac River and the Yamuna River, India (two rivers through the capitals of two countries) -- are holding a Benefit Concert to send a team to India in December to train students and communities in the cleanup of the Yamuna, one of the most polluted rivers in the world.
The Concert performance of the Facing East Trio features renowned bansuri flutist John Wubbenhorst, a Cape St Clair resident! Organizers Dick Lahn and Subijoy Dutta are founding members of the Rivers of the World Foundation (ROW) which has done work in many countries. Both live in Crofton. Rivers of the World Foundation, now focusing on the Yamuna River in India, has formed a partnership with the Alice Ferguson Foundation (began the trash cleanup of the Potomac 21 years ago) to join in cleaning up two rivers through the capitals of two countries. For the last two years, trash cleanup on the Yamuna has been done in coordination cleanups in April. Besides cleaning up trash -- garbage, medical waste, tires, refrigerators, ... -- the purpose is to get people to the rivers so that they take ownership of their rivers.
