A resounding 80 of 121 readers or 66% said "Never" when asked "Should 145 Gorman St. Be Named For Ellen O. Moyer?". Thirteen said "Maybe after she has passed on" and the same amount said "Certainly and right now". Two other possible answers were "Not Sure" which got two votes and "Ellen Who" which also brought in 13 votes. If we take away the "trick" answer of "Ellen Who", that makes for a total of 108 answers, meaning that the 80 out of 108 who said "Never" would rise to about 75% of respondents and those who said "certainly and right now" or "maybe..." would be about 12% each.
As we are always careful to remind you, this is not a scientific poll, but I will say that as I watched the results carefully for the week this was up, the percentage of those saying "never" almost always remained about 66%, leading me to believe there might be a high level of confidence or repeatability in this poll. The bottom line is that the highly intelligent and politically active readership of CP is strongly opposed to naming this building after the mayor. Aldermen, please take notice. In any event, would not a park or a garden be more appropriate?
