Fiscal Responsibility the Theme of Mayor-Elect Cohen's Swearing-In Ceremony
Annapolis, MD (12-01-09) The Swearing-in Ceremony for the Mayor and City Council is traditionally a time for celebration. This year, in recognition of the economic downturn and the budget deficit facing the city, Mayor-elect Cohen is setting the stage for fiscal responsibility by ensuring that this symbolic event will not be funded with taxpayer dollars. Rather, it will be paid for entirely by private donations.
Mayor-Elect Cohen and elected members of City Council invite the public to the ceremony at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7th at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. The new mayor and council members will host a reception afterward to greet attendees.
Individuals wishing to make a donation towards the event may make their check payable to City of Annapolis and mail it to:
Attn: Inaugural Committee
160 Duke of Gloucester Street
Annapolis, MD 21401
Contributions to the city are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
