An Evening of Wine, Snacks and a Discussion on "Why Would Anyone Run For Public Office?"

An Evening of Wine, Snacks and a Discussion on "Why Would Anyone Run For Public Office?"

We just had local elections yet here we are again with state, county and national elections almost upon us. Is a "throw the bums out" mentality taking over? Do third party candidates and independents stand a chance this year? Why seek public office?

The voting public is invited to hear from first-time Annapolis-area candidates or previously unsuccessful candidates running again for state, county or natioal office as to "Why Would Anybody Run for Political Office?". This is the first in a series of informal public forums called "Foerfront At The Crush" sponsored by blogger, Capital columnist and 1430WNAV radio commentator Paul Foer at Crush--The Winehouse at 114 West St. in Annapolis. Foer will also moderate the evening event to be held on Monday June 28 from 7 to 9 pm.

Join us as we meet these candidates who have never been elected to office. They include:
Democrat Judd Legum for delegate (District 30)

A soon-to-be announced Republican for delegate (District 30)

Democrat Joanna Conti for county executive

Green Mike Shay for county executive

Democrat Chris Trumbauer for county council (Sixth District)

Democrat Chuck Ferrar for county council (Sixth District)

Republican Jim Wilhelm for congress (Maryland's Third)

Independent Jack Wilson for congress (Maryland's First)

(Other Annapolis-area candidates who meet the criteria are invited to attend)

Come out to enjoy good food and beverages and to meet the candidates and ask them why they are running at Crush--The Winehouse, 114 West Street. Walk, ride your bike, carpool and if you must park, a validated ticket will mean you only pay $2 to park next door at the Loews Hotel. Crush is a classy and attractive setting for this evening of discussion and possibly debate. Best of all, admission is only ten dollars and that includes all the light snacks and appetizers you can eat. Of course Crush's fine selection of wines and beer will be available for purchase.
