The unofficial vote count in the nail-biting District Six County Council race shows Chris Trumbauer is now at 3216 and Ferrar at 3166, a 50 vote lead, down from a 65 vote lead just after Tuesday's primary. According to Michael Matthews of the Ferrar campaign who was on scene at the Board of Elections, there remains another 227 late absentees, provisional and military votes to be counted. Even if Ferrar captured 139 of these votes (assuming all provisionals are accepted) and Trumbauer only got 88, Ferrar would win at 3305 to Trumbauer at 3304. What are the odds? One might surmise that if there were a lot of military votes, a high number of them might be more likely to go to the more conservative Ferrar, but the ratio presented above to win by one vote would be over 60% of the total remaining vote. This of course, borders on endless speculation....but it can be fun!
These votes will not be counted until Thursday, September 22nd at 10 a.m. Hang on to your hats.
NOTE: Lee Finney of the Trumbauer campaign, who was also at the Board wrote in to say "there are 227 provisional ballots – both D’s and R’s to count on WEDNESDAY (not Thursday) 9/22. The number of absentee ballots to be counted on 9/22 is unknown as they have not yet been received – absentees must be postmarked by Election Day." Thanks to Lee for this correction.
