Why: Federal health legislation has passed, yet there is much to do to continue to push for universal, guaranteed and affordable access to health care. State Single Payer is happening all around the nation. We intend to set a path to victory for single payer in Maryland!

There is renewed energy to work for state single payer bills and at least 20 states are in different stages from just beginning to write a single payer bill to moving legislation through the state house to working with consultants on ways to implement single payer at the state level. The Maryland Health Security Act will be introduced for the third time this upcoming session. The time is now to craft our strategy to move this bill forward!

Join us for a dynamic and interactive strategy session. We will hear from people who have successfully moved bills through the legislature. We will hear from our legislative and organizational allies about ways to build broader support for this bill. We will develop three working groups from the strategy session which will focus on educating legislators, building a broader grassroots and building a stronger coalition of supporting organizations. Attendees will learn about ways that you can help us achieve our shared goal of a health system in Maryland that is truly universal, lifelong, comprehensive and will control health care costs.
