I guess it's a tradition. Every year I write an essay blasting Halloween--at least what it has become these days--a mass consumerist and gluttonous excess of an excuse to party with overtones of very weird symbols of cultural something or another. But what really gets me are these dentist-sponsored candy buybacks. This has become a huge thing all over the country and it is so ridiculous, so distasteful, and so wrong on so many levels...read on....And there are even weirder events, such as the church with the helicopter that drops candy from the sky...like manna from heaven?
