Annapolis Capital Punishment

I was very pleased to have been named one of ten "Outstanding Marine Wizards" for 2010 at the Eastport Yacht Club's Spring Cotillion on Thursday night. I want to thank the  EYC, all its volunteers and cooperating organizations and judges for this honor, right here in America's Sailing Capital.

Marine Wizards are individuals who strengthen the local marine trades with their excellence. In partnership with boating publications SpinSheet and PropTalk and with the support of many additional local sponsors, EYC's biennial event Spring Cotillion once again named Outstanding Marine Wizards. New for 2010, these nominations were invited from the public.  A panel of carefully chosen judges evaluated each nomination received and together named the 2010 Outstanding Marine Wizards.

EYC's definition of an "Outstanding Marine Wizard" is one who works in the local marine trades and demonstrates superb skills that the average boater, power or sail, wishes he/she had.  Since 1979, your publisher, Paul Foer, has been instructing and coaching sailors and boaters at all levels in improving their seamanship and boat-handling skills. I have safely delivered yachts along the entire east coast  and taken thousands of people on yacht charters for vacations and pleasure cruises.

The Eastport Yacht Club Foundation is hard at work on their MAST (MArine Skills Training) initiative. Working with local marine businesses and the Anne Arundel County Public School's Center for Applied Technology - South, EYCF is compiling data on necessary skills, summer jobs with training, post-high school formal training programs and career job opportunities offering training and those requiring pre-training. Eastport Yacht Club has designated the scholarship fund for the MAST program as the beneficiary for the 2010 Spring Cotillion.
