CAPITAL PUNISHMENT AND OTHER BLOGS IN THE NEWS

Today’s (July 15) Baltimore Sun’s Arundel section includes an article about Mayor Moyer’s new blog, which so far has nothing to say but a profile with a photo of Ellen looking geeky behind the wheel of a racing yacht. This is the anti-global warming crusading Mayor that refuses to get on a city bus to promote public transit, refuses to get on a bike to promote bicycling, reportedly dislikes flying and is now jaunting across Europe (by train?) where she apparently arrived via the Queen Mary. One hopes she was not steering. Yet, she sails--at least on a Whitbread/Volvo boat. Meantime, see what Ellen has to say as she gallivants across Europe for two months. (Yeah...like we really care what you think about Prague. How about Robinwood, Newtowne and
Parole?)

Do we need any more sister-cities? We need a good relationship with Anne Arundel County!

The Sun’s Nia Henderson also mentions other local blogs and says that CP’s “left-leaning blog is a look at hot-button issues in Annapolis, such as crime and transportation.” Left leaning? CP is not sure what that means or if CP is such a thing. CP labels itself “progressive” but more than anything, CP is interested in excellence, honesty and effectiveness in government--without regard to party or philosophical affiliation.
The Sun mentions other area blogs as well such as Greg Kline's "The Conservative Refuge” and Blog Arundel, which is correctly described as being “anonymous" which indeed, is unfortunate. CP has also come across the new www. annapolispolitics.blogspot.com and www.blog.briangriffiths.com, both of which are decidedly conservative.
While CP takes swipes against elected officials, CP tries to be fair and respectful, and is mainly interested in going after malfeasance, corruption or duplicity whether it is perpetrated by Dem’s or Rep’s. CP eschews the mean-spirited, offensiveness of some blogs, but will link to other blogs covering local issues that also link to CP, whether or not they take a “left” “right” or any perspective. Linking to another blog does not constitute endorsement or agreement, but merely a recognition that they cover local issues. Should CP determine that a blog is offensive or unduly arrogant or mean-spirited, it will be unlinked.
