Global Warming Around The Bay...from a forestry perspective

Read this interesting story about tree growth and climate change around The Chesapeake

Is the growing season lengthening? Are minimum averages rising? Are trees growing faster?

Interesting article. I've always wondered about the thought that if vegetation consumes CO2, then wouldn't the amount of vegetation automatically expand in response to larger available quantities of CO2. And, as a result, isn't the planet a self balancing mechanism when it comes to CO2? Does anyone really know how long it takes the planet to make this response?

Sure Bob. No doubt you have always wondered about such complex scientific theories....when not selling a house. The idea that additional CO2 would "green" the planet has long been around and has long been used by global-warming naysayers to say keep burning and burning.

It strikes me as odd how you appeal to science to bolster an opinion but then dismiss science when it does not fit your opinion. So which is it Bob, pro-science or anti-science? And finally, if you believe the planet is a self-balancing mechanism, then what happens when that balance is upset by a non-natural input, such as technology??? Maybe you ought to think about that.

I'll let anyone make a judgement about my comments and how you somehow relate that to my profession in "selling homes".

I thought I was making an reasonable, as well as question argument regargding CO2 and how the planet might respond.

Sorry that my opinion and profession so offends you.

Contrary to what you seem to believe, people who sell houses also have legitimate ideas about planetary climate change.

I'm sorry that you believe people who sell houses for a living are aparently unable to have any rational thoughts regarding climate change.

I thought I made a reasonable observation as it pertains to to CO2 and how the planet might respond.

But, some people might believe themselves to be so arrogant that they don't realize that this planet will ultimately scrape us off without a thought, no matter how many bike paths we build.

The last ice age ended with global warming, and narry an SUV in sight.

I recycle everything in sight and like any rationale person, know that this is the only planet we have - so, I do what I can to take care of it.

Personally, I'm tired of people like you who think others are devoted to dirty our nest.

Where the hell to you get off thinking that some of us don't want clean air; clean water and a pure environment.

How arrogant can you be.

Get a grip Paul. We all want to save the planet; we all live here.

I think it's reasonable that we all examine how to do that.

Personally, I just questioned the ability of our planet to accomodate an increase in CO2.

The planet accomplished that long before we were here.

Okay Bob.

You just made a huge leap of faith and put a lot of words into my mouth, but I am happy to publish your letter because you have taken the time to write and you have identified yourself. I have always published your letters. What more do you want?

Since you recycle everything in sight, let's see, where can we begin....???
